Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu

The Divine Grace of Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu

Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu is one of the greatest saints of the Bhakti era  a divine soul who dedicated his entire life to spreading the love of Radha and Krishna through the Radha Vallabh Sampradaya.

He revealed to the world that the essence of devotion (Bhakti) is not ritual or knowledge, but pure, selfless love (Prem)  the love of Radharani, the eternal queen of Vrindavan.

Through His teachings, poetry, and divine example, Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu showed humanity how to experience God not as a distant power, but as a Beloved within the heart.

His life was a celebration of Radha Naam (the holy name of Radha) and Ras Bhakti (the sweetness of divine love)  a love that transcends all barriers and unites the soul with the Supreme.

The Birth of Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu – A Divine Arrival

Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu was born in Baad village near Mathura in the year 1502 CE, during a time when the Bhakti movement was flourishing in India through saints like Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, Surdas, Mirabai, and Vallabhacharya.

His father, Shri Vyasa Mishra, was a royal priest serving in the court of Raja Todar Mal (the finance minister of Emperor Akbar), while his mother, Tara Rani, was a deeply devotional woman.

It is believed that Radha Rani Herself blessed his parents, saying that a child would be born through whom Her divine love would spread across the world.

And indeed, when Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu was born, his first words were said to be “Radha”  marking his birth as the dawn of Radha Bhakti.

From childhood, he displayed extraordinary devotion, wisdom, and purity often speaking about the pastimes of Radha and Krishna with tears of love in his eyes.

The Early Life and Spiritual Journey of Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu

As a young boy, Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu showed signs of divine realization.
He would spend hours meditating in the forests of Vrindavan, lost in thoughts of Radha and Krishna.

He studied Sanskrit, scriptures, and philosophy  but his true focus was always on Prem Bhakti (love-centered devotion).

At a young age, he was spiritually guided by Goswami Vitthalanath Ji (son of Vallabhacharya) and by the Lord Himself in His inner vision.

It is said that Radha Rani appeared to him in a divine form and instructed:

“O Harivansh! Spread My name and My love throughout the world. Establish a path where hearts will melt in devotion  not through rituals, but through love.”

Obeying Her command, he began composing verses, songs, and teachings centered on Radha Naam, Ras Leela, and Divine Love  the foundation of what became the Radha Vallabh Sampradaya.

The Founding of the Radha Vallabh Sampradaya

Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu founded the Radha Vallabh Sampradaya in Vrindavan, a path of Bhakti that emphasizes worship of Radharani as the Supreme Goddess, and Krishna as the Lord who is completely devoted to Her.

The term “Radha Vallabh” means “the Beloved of Radha.”
In this tradition, Radha is the embodiment of divine love, and Krishna is the one who becomes perfect through Her love.

Unlike other traditions that focus solely on Krishna, Hit Harivansh Mahaprabhu revealed that Radha’s love is the highest form of devotion  the soul’s purest connection with God.

The Radha Vallabh Temple in Vrindavan, established by his disciples, remains one of the most sacred and vibrant temples, where the Deity of Radha Vallabh Ji (Krishna) is worshipped  symbolizing the invisible presence of Radharani, represented by a divine throne beside Him.

This symbolizes that the Lord is never complete without His Radha.
